Comments: The best time of our trip was spent here with Julie and friends. We originaly only planned to stay in Rio a week but ended up staying a month and then returning on are way home. Santa Terresa is the best place to stay, it gives you a real sence of the Rio culture, good food, friendly bars an excellent atmosphere which follows through to Casa mango. Big thanks to Julie for making us feel so welcome!!

Comments: I echo everything that Kojo said. A truly fantastic time ws had by both of us although l am cautious about spreading the word too much as l don't want Casa MangoMango to be fully booked when we return - sorry to be selfish Julie! Koj didn't mention that l spent the car journey from Casa MangoMango to the airport in tears, that's how good a time l had. Thank you, Julie, Arthur, Natalie, Fatchma, Sadakne, Fabio, Ivan, Edvaldo and the inimitable Hattie. x

Comments: This was one of the most hospitable places I've ever stayed. Julie, who manages the guest-house, was extraordinarily friendly and competent. In fact, all the staff was exceptional. I and a colleague brought a group of some 20 college students this past January, and Julie and co. made our experience pleasantly memorable. I know that I'll be back!

Comments: To the gang at Casa MangoMango. I just wanted to express my thanks and let you all know that we had a blast in Rio and at your little secret in the hills of Santa Teresa. You guys took such good care of us - something I don't think we would have received at even the most expensive of places in Rio. We will always remember the trip and your warm and friendly hospitality. Extra special thanks to Sadakne for making sure we were safe and sound every night. Take Care Everyone and I promise to tell everyone about that special house on the hill. Cheers. Marwan

Comments: I was only planning on staying a 2 days and that beautiful old house on the hill which I hit by chance because the hostel was full captured us me and a friend. It was home in Rio no stress no pressure Julie the owner you have to find to pay her. The spacious rooms and halls nice easy going interesting people. Though the house is fully occupied I never felt it was crowded. The truth is I was heart broken when I had to leave, would gladly go back anytime and Julie the owner knows that.

Comments: "A visit to Rio should include to stay away from the touristic places of Copacabana and Ipanema... One has to experience the real life of Rio, staying in a real house in the core of the city : Santa Teresa, a beautiful and bohemian neighborhood and have the opportunity to see a different Rio. Ken and I had the opportunity to savour our time in Rio staying at Casa MangoMango Guesthouse last July. We had a very warm welcome by Julie and her family who did everything possible to make us feel at home. We enjoyed immensely having the cozy appartment uphill in the house and it was awesome to share our days with Julie and her friends. Sunset sipping a glass of beer in our own private terrace, walking uphill to discover some of the local restaurants or taking the pitturesque tram into town... We are planning to go back to Rio and, obviously, returning to Julie... Going back to Lapa to enjoy Brazilian music and samba dancing... while drinking caipirinha or capiroska... Definitely a place to recommend to people ready to live the real Rio!..."
